Recently named Artist of the Week by Radio ArtsIndonesa, October 2011, Teguh Sukaryo is Indonesia's leading pianist, recording artist and music educator. Teguh has performed in various parts of the globe, including in Europe, USA and Australia. Mission is to touch every heart in a gentle, caring way, as he continues to dream: “A world of harmony, abundant in peace, love and joy”. Teguh Sukaryo has studied with Jon Kimura Parker, Peter Takacs, Michael Gurt, and Carmel Lutton, and has been coached by Byron Janis and Einar-Steen Nokleberg. His conducting teachers included Paul Polivnick, Anton Krager, and Frank Wickes. A dedicated teacher himself, Sukaryo was a Joseph and Ida Kirkland Mullen Fellow and served as a faculty member at Rice University Preparatory Program. Teguh is a devoted teacher with twenty years of experience (began teaching at the age of fifteen). Teaching has always been an important part of his life. While continuing giving workshops and masterclasses for advanced students, Teguh also finds it necessary to fight his way back to nurturing younger students through highest quality of music education, as he believes good music foundation is of prime importance.

Teguh Sukaryo graduated with a BMus degree in Piano Performance from Newcastle Conservatorium of Music, NSW, Australia, in 1998 where he always received the coveted High Distinction for his recitals. In 2005, Teguh won the Beethoven Prize in the Grieg International Competition for Pianists, held in Oslo, Norway. Teguh received many awards and full scholarships to further study in USA at such prestigious schools as Oberlin Conservatory, where he graduated with the Artist Diploma (2001); Rice University/Shepherd School of Music, Master of Music (2003); and Louisiana State University, where he studied for his Doctorate course (2003-2004).

His discography includes "Teguh Sukaryo - Brahms, Mompou and Mussorgsky", "Scenes of Childhood" (works by Schumann, Debussy, Turina and Mompou), Burgmuller Op. 100, and Burgmuller Op. 109. In a couple of months, he is scheduled to release six piano pedagogy albums, which will consequently set him as a world record breaker in two categories: 1) Classical musician who cuts the most albums in one single production; and 2) Pianist who produces the most solo albums in the piano pedagogy field. In the year 2012, Teguh will present to the world his new solo albums called "Asia" (featuring classical music of asian influence/origin), "Teguh Sukaryo plays Mompou", and "Teguh Sukaryo plays Ravel".

Teguh Sukaryo is the founder and the Artistic Director of group Musik Klasik Indonesia (MKI) - The largest, most educative and informative classical music group in Indonesia; Owner and President of Teguh Sukaryo International Music School - South Jakarta; And Artistic Director of Kusuma Widjaja Music Medan. Teguh was born and grew up in Purwokerto, Central Java. He loves Indonesia - the culture and the people. He also loves nature and arts, and enjoys making friends from all walks of life.

Teguh Sukaryo lulus S1 pada bidang Piano Performance dari Newcastle Conservatorium of Music, Australia. Disana dia mengambil Double Performance Strand dan selalu mendapat nilai tertinggi, yaitu High Distinction. Dikenal memiliki kemampuan artistry tinggi dan teknik yang handal, Teguh menperoleh berbagai penghargaan dan beasiswa penuh untuk melanjutkan seluruh studinya di USA, seperti di sekolah-sekolah tinggi terkemuka: Oberlin Conservatory, yang mana dia mendapat gelar Artist Diploma; Rice University/Shepherd School of Music, Master of Music; and Louisiana State University, tempat Teguh sedang menyelesaikan gelar Doktoralnya (DMA, Doctorate of Musical Arts). Mission: Singapore All-Possible - Don't Wanna Miss a Thing!

As you set your feet in Singapore soil, your adventure begins. Three days, and you got a mission: Get the most out of Singapore and don't miss a thing. With SG Tourist Pass and without a tour guide, enjoy best attracions, sample all Singapore culinary specials and shop 'till you drop!

Day 1: Back to the Future
Take a walk and bus from City Hall to Marina Bay Sands.
Objectives: Raffles Statue (White), Merlion, SkyPark.

Take the bus from your hotel to the city hall and walk all the way of Singapore's proud history from Queen Elizabeth's Walk - Merlion - Esplanade all the way past Fullerton Hotel, get blended in the rush hour, take MRT to Marina Bay & bus to Marina Bay Sands and enjoy the grandeur of the SkyPark. After that, you can go to Orchard Road to Tang's or Lucky Plaza to sample some SG street food, take a walk and then to ION Orchard and take MRT back to your hotel (unless you want to go to ZOUK first).

Day 2: The Pilgrim in Fantasy Lands
Sentosa Resort World & Universal Studios.
Objectives: Alien Cylon Blue Rollercoaster, Crane Dance.

With a public bus or MRT, you'll arrive at VivoCity. Get a spare cash and take the bus to Sentosa Island. In Universal Studios, there are 2 ways to enjoy ALL attractions there:
1. Counter-Clockwise Walk: Take the most exciting ride: Battlestar Galactica rollercoaster first before it gets too crowded.
2. Clockwise Walk: Enjoy all rides and take Battlestar Galactica rollercoaster as finale. It's all up to you.

After enjoying the rides, you can rest in FestiveWalk or go back to VivoCity and back again by bus to Sentosa to watch either Voyage de la Vie, RWS Crane Dance or both in Sentosa Resorts World.

Day 3: Get Wild!
Either Singapore Zoo or Jurong Bird Park, then Chinatown Food Street to Orchard Road & Zouk.
Objectives: 12 Chinese Zodiac Animals (SG Zoo), SG Street Food.

Now there are four "wild things" to get today, seeing animals from the wild, devouring wildly into various kinds of Singapore Street Food: Carrot Cakes, Prawn Hokkien Mee, Katong Blacan and all, shop like wild in Orchard Road and finally get wild in Zouk. What a wild finale of this 3-day mission adventure!

Note that you can use the first day to visit more historical places if you arrive in SG before 1 PM. And if you depart from SG on the third day, you probably want to cut out on the nightly "wild stuff" or move all Orchard and Zouk to the night of the first day.

Well, we can say it was "mission accomplished", you can really enjoy your 3-day visit in Singapore and getting all the best of the city and come back home with fond memories plus a sense of fulfillment from all the objectives you finished - and a longing for another visit to the Fair Singapore.

Additional Tip:

- Plan your journey carefully. Study the city map, MRT and bus route and plan your route according to the areas you want to explore. Example in this guide:
Day 1: Center - South
Day 2: South (Sentosa)
Day 3: North (Northwest or Northeast) - Center

- As soon as you arrive in Singapore and you don't want to hire a local guide, GET A TOURIST PASS! Just buy the 3-day pass in Changi Airport and you will save lots and lots of money and your journey will be most convenient with all the MRTs and buses you can use freely.

- Make sure you visit Universal Studios SG at regular days, not weekends (Sat-Sun) first thing in the morning and you'll know why.

Okay, so this is only to differ the terms and introducing a new term: OFF-ROAD vs ROAD-OFF.

OFF-ROAD: Out of the city roads, in the countryside or even trekking on the jungle by the appropriate car.

ROAD-OFF: Road in the city that is too damaged trekking on it resembles an off-road ride. Potholes, cracks, flood, debris and such are the road-off elements.

I don't know about your city, but road-offs are so common in Jakarta that every driver is trained every day to be an off-roader. Just laugh it off, and if not, just think about it.

okay, so according to the survey, bangkok jam still holds the legendary record of the longest traffic jam in the world today (nov 2010 as this cartoon was made).

yet, another legend is rising - the jakarta jam (jak jam). if not the most, it sure is one of the most annoying and dangerous traffic jam in the world today. potholes and floods in the damaged road (road-off, vadis sez), stupid yet desperate-like commuters behavioral (like going against the traffic etc), not to mention debris and dangerous materials like nails, screws people threw on purpose.

in short, it's a picture of a desperate shock for the culture built for years and years not only in bangkok, indonesia, moscow but also some of the peaks of culture in the world.

Mungkin itu sebabnya kami berlima memburu iblis, karena tahu hidup orang-orang di sini sudah cukup susah tanpa harus menjadi santapan spesies predator. Atau bisa jadi karena kami memang membenci iblis dan senang membunuh mereka.

Terlepas dari semua itu, satu perburuan akan mengubah hidup kami untuk selama-lamanya. Satu perburuan, dan semuanya menjadi lepas kendali seperti bola salju yang meluncur liar, menelan siapa saja yang ada di hadapannya. Dan kami adalah penyebab utamanya.

How To Make Mochi

Mochi is a Japanese rice cake made from glutinous rice. This Japanese glutinous rice delicacy is molded into shape just after pounding the rice. The sticky Mochi are a bit of a challenge to eat. Mochi forms the basis of many Japanese confections such as daifuku, which is mochi stuffed with sweet filling. Making glutinous rice mochi takes practice.

Things You'll Need:

* 1 cup mochiko glutinous rice
* 1 cup sugar
* 1/4 cup water
* 1/4 cup katakuriko (potato starch)
* Fillings (optional)
* Bowl

Step 1

Make mochi by selecting 1 cup of high quality mochiko sweet rice flour (glutinous rice flour). Mochiko flour is milled from mochi rice. The flour has many uses in the kitchen, and because of this it is not difficult to find in most Asian markets or Asian food sections of larger grocery stores.

Step 2

Take 1 cup of sugar and add it to the cup of mochiko. Use a fork or spoon to mix the two dry ingredients thoroughly.

Add 1/4 cup of water. Stir together well.

Step 4

Place the mixture into a microwaveable dish. Cover the dish with plastic. Microwave the mochi mixture on high for 4 minutes. Add some coloring or flavoring to the mixture before microwaving for a variety of mochi.

Step 5

Remove from microwave. Allow the mochi to cool before cutting and molding.

Step 6

Dust mochi with katakuriko (potato starch). This prevents the mochi from sticking together. Add fillings, such as red beans, chocolate or nuts, before dusting.

Mini Biography

Hugo Wallace Weaving was born on April 4, 1960 in Nigeria. The middle sibling of three, Hugo has an older brother Simon and a younger sister Anna who both also currently live and work in Australia. During his early childhood, the Weaving family spent most of their time traveling between Nigeria, Great Britain, and Australia. This was due to the cross-country demands of his father's job in the computer industry. Later, during his teens, Hugo spent three years in England in the seventies attending Queen Elizabeth's Hospital School in Bristol. There, he showed early promise in theater productions and also excelled at history, achieving an A in his O-level examination. He arrived permanently in Australia in 1976 and finished his education at Knox Grammar School, Sydney. He graduated from NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Art), a college well-known for other alumni such as Mel Gibson and Geoffrey Rush, in 1981. Since then, Hugo has had a steadily successful career in the film, television, and theater industries. However, he has illustrated that, as renowned as he is known for his film work, he feels most at home on stage and continually performs in Australian theater productions, usually with the Sydney Theater Company. With his success has also come extensive recognition. He has won numerous awards, including two Australian Film Institute Awards (AFI) for Best Actor in a Leading Role and three total nominations. The AFI is the Australian equivalent of an Academy Award, and Hugo won for his performances in Proof (1991) and The Interview (1998). He was also nominated for his performance in The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994). He garnered the Best Acting prize for The Interview (1998) at the Montreal Film Festival in 1998 in addition to his AFI Award and, that same year, won the Australian Star of the Year. More recently, roles in films such as The Matrix trilogy as Agent Smith and The Lord of the Rings trilogy as Lord Elrond have considerably raised his international profile. His famous and irreplaceable role in The Matrix movies have made him one of the greatest sci-if villains of the Twenty-first Century. With each new film, television, or theatrical role, Hugo continues to surpass his audience's expectations and remains one of the most versatile performers working today. He resides in Australia and has two children with partner Katrina Greenwood. He never married and has said several times that the idea of marriage 'petrifies' him.
