Country Culinary with a Sophisticated Display

Want a taste of the REAL Indonesian delicacy during your visit, dear tourists?
BUMBU DESA (Country Spice) is definitely a must-try.

Well, talking about my experience, I’ve tasted a very juicy and tender fried “gurami” fish, big fried cuttlefish and cuttlefish wing satay (kebab). The dried meat “gepuk” originated in Bandung was tender and tasty in every bite. The crispy lung, “bacem” tofu and “babat” didn’t quite agree with my tongue, nonetheless many like it.
The good thing is you don’t have to go all the way to the country and villages to taste the real flavor. One thing to note is the food is way too nice and clean, choicest, and nothing like found in traditional markets (imported, maybe?).
Well, you better believe it. We still can find first-grade meal from Indonesian agriculture. It’s much healthier than trying them out in villages yourself, believe me.
One thing, if your stomach doesn’t agree with spicy food, don’t try the sambal (jambalaya/chili sauce). It’s famously extra-hot from the first lick.

The atmosphere is more sophisticated than natural, and better still, it’s quite comfortable compared to dining in the open, hot night with all the CO2 in the air. If you prefer outdoor dining, you should try the Bandung branch, though.
Prices? For that kind of comfort, I’d say it’s reasonable. What do you say to Rp 40.000,- worth fried gurami and Rp 15.000,- for fried cuttlefish? It’s your call.
The service is quite unique. You select the meal you want from the stalls as you go in from the door. Some are well-done, and some must be cooked in the way you prefer. The waitress there will help you pick the food and take it to your table, giving you information as necessary (I didn’t try to ask them to explain in English, though).

Well, in short, BUMBU DESA is worth a visit. Your culinary adventure in Indonesia won’t be complete without sampling the original Indonesian delicacies here. Come!
