Andry's China Trip 2011


STAGE TWO: GUANGZHOU


Day 5, Aug 28


We left Hong Kong and journeyed by bus via Shenzhen to Guangzhou, China. Departed at 09.30 and arrived at 12.00 with average speed 80 - 100 km/h.
We visited relatives and sampled some local delicacies.
Visited Yuexiu Park which housed the symbol of Guangzhou, the Five Rams statue.




Day 6, Aug 29


City tour. We visited wholesale shopping districts and sampled delicacies from local restaurants along Yi De Square.
Now we're truly impressed by the creativity of the Chinese through multitudes of cheap yet good quality products, especially in toys wholesale market.




Day 7, Aug 30


We walked along the shopping and tourist spot of Beijing Road, visited and Shopped in book and branded apparel stores. Here I also got an input about roads in Ancient China, all the way to Ming and Song Dynasties.



Our night was filled with a ferry cruise along the river to see the venue for Asian Games 2010 Guangzhou, magnificent "Ring Bridge", beautiful city and bridge lights and last but not least, the new landmark, the Guangzhou Tower.




STAGE THREE: WUHAN


Day 8, Aug 31


We left Guangzhou to Wuhan via Changshanan northwards to the center of the nation by CRH Bullet Train (G1002).
The trip was from 09:00 to 11:35 with average speed of 250 km/h and top speed 350 km/h. I got to see some villages in China along the way.



Arriving in Wuhan, it's an industrial city like a village girl undergoing a thorough makeover. We crossed the great Yangtze River through bridge and tunnel.
As usual, we also sampled local delicacies such as mincemeat noodle, mini-buns and egg-topped glutinous rice with the special Wuhan Sauce.




Day 9, Sep 1


Wuhan City, Capital of Hubei Province. We toured around the city. First, to the East Lake, a beautiful natural lake resort and center of culture and recreation.
Next, we took a glimpse of the renowned Wuhan Tower, that is actually a pagoda the locals claimed as "the most beautiful tower in the world".




Day 10, Sep 2


Still in Wuhan, we visited the temple of 500 Lohan Sacred Monks, enjoying the view and admiring the original Oriental Architecture, including a pond full of tortoises.
We spent the afternoon browsing the malls in Wuhan shopping district and indulging our taste buds with more local specialities. We set out at night by train to Beijing.
