Hi Gail -
I really don't know too much about the diff between CDMA and GSM. Wish someone else would chime in. But....
I don't think it will matter what type phone you have. Coverage and signal strength all depend on the network you are on. If you are on the T-Mobile network you'll have service where ever T-mobile coverage reaches, for instance. I have a Boost Mobile prepaid phone which uses the Sprint-Nextel network. I don't even remember off-hand if my phone is CDMA or GSM. So, if you are going to buy a phone just look up what network it uses and then check their coverage maps. (And like I said, try to buy it at a store that will let you test it out for a few days).
Thank you for your response Don. Because we live in a (I think it's called GSM area) but travel frequently to a CDMA area where our cottage is located, which is the best type phone to buy? Will a CDMA phone work in our home area or vice versa? Thank you for your help. GailB --- In PrePaidCellPhones@

I'm assuming you're buying a pre-paid phone? First checkthecarriers coverage map, then check here to see if any dead-zoneshavebeen reported in your specific area (and then buy the phone from a store that will let you return it(usuallylike 15 to 30 days - like WalMart, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.).Askabout their return policy. Most all phones have nationwide roaming - but be sure to ask anyhow. Good luck, Donk Gail wrote:Hi: I live in Wisconsin. I don't use the cell phone for texting, justvoice and not too much of that. Can anyone point me to thecarrierwith the best voice coverage in Wisconsin? We also travel toArizonain the winter and I would like the have nationwide roamingincluded andagain good coverage. The coverage maps are so vague that Ithought I'dask here. I also would like to carry over my minutes, so the T-Mobile1000 minutes for $100 for a year is appealing. I'm justconcernedabout the coverage. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Gail Bensing Wisconsin------------ --------- --------- ------ You have been invited to join Yuwie by John.
